Living With Wildlife
How do I prevent a conflict with a wild animal?
How do I solve a problem with a wild animal?
How can I get an animal off my property?
How do I find out the legal status of an animal in Washington state?
This website features the “Living with Wildlife” information series prepared by the state Dept. of Fish & Wildlife. The series provides information on feeding behavior, reproduction, and other biological information for many species of animals. The animals were chosen after surveying agencies and organizations that receive calls from the public about local wildlife. The information is useful for those seeking to solve problems caused by animals, those trying to attract animals, and those who come into conflict with animals on their property. Public health concerns for each species is described followed by the animal's legal status. All mammals, birds, reptiles, and amphibians that live in the wild in Washington are protected or regulated by state and/or federal laws (which the website links to). The website also provides further resources, and print-friendly PDF versions of each section. The website was adapted from the book "Living with Wildlife in the Pacific Northwest" by Russell Link.
